About DKP

Blessing will use a Zero-Sum DKP system.

What this means:
Each item is assigned a specific value. When an item drops, the members of the eligible classes have the choice to loot or pass, with priority given to the player with the highest current DKP and continuing down the line until someone chooses to loot or the end of the line is reached. The points spent are then redistributed amongst the raid.

Example:
Rotting Bear Carcass is priced at 100 points and is restricted to Paladins and Warlocks.

CURRENT DKP STANDINGS
Nevred
200
Veliya
175
Krep
125
Jady
105

A Rotting Bear Carcass drops and Nevred exercises his right to loot as the highest DKP person of an eligible class. 100 points are distributed over the 4 members. The standings change to:

Veliya

Jady

Another Rotting Bear Carcass drops. Veliya is the top member in points, but is not of an eligible class, whereas Kreptaloe, being a Warlock is. He decides to pass, and the decision is left to Jady, also a warlock, who decides to loot.

This continues, everyone gets all the phat lootz (smelly carcass ftw), and everyone is happy in Blessing-Land.

Details
The strengths of this system are that inflation is absolutely impossible, as points are never distributed to players without them having a source. The sum off all players' totals in the system will ALWAYS equal zero. Also, unlike bidding systems, your point total is completely irrelevant--what actually matters is your current DKP ranking.

This offers you looting security in that you absolutely know that you can not be beat by someone with a lower point standing than you, and everytime an item is looted, a fixed price will be paid for it. This is unlike bidding systems where you can either be bid up or pay a lot for a contested item, just to see it go for a fraction of the cost the next drop. Everyone will pay the same amount to get to the same level of gear, and with points being a reflection of time spent, each person will see a direct correlation between their level of raid attendance/devotion to the guild and the loot they recieve.

Upgrades
When upgrading from a Blessing DKP purchased epic to another, the price you pay is the difference between the prices of those two items. The rationale behind this is it should cost the same amount of points to get to the same level of gear.

Example:
Galdina has Dragonstalker's Boots, which she paid 200 for.
Demorte has Giantstalker's Boots, which he paid 100 for.
Nevred ninja'd some blue Beaststalker's Boots.

The tier 3 Hunter piece drops, and Nevred decides to loot it (hey it makes the Paladin piece too!), since he is going from nonepic boots to epic boots, he pays a full 300 points for it. Galdina and Demorte both purchase and loot the same boot piece for 100 and 200 respectively.

If <HunterX> had Dragonstalker's Boots coming into the guild, he would pay the FULL 300 DKP for tier 3 boots. . Thus, he would have paid the same amount of points to be at the same level as everyone else in the guild, regardless of the upgrade not being as large for the points.

Basically, for a specific amount of points earned, you can EXPECT to be at a very constant place in your gear development.

When looting a nonupgrade, you pay nothing under the caveat that NO ONE in the raid has a need for that item.

Item Rot and Forced Looting
If an item is passed on by all raid members, it goes to item rot.

When an item is on rot, the following sequence of events occurs:

  1. Someone has a significant need for the item for raid purposes, under which condition the person with the most significant need can be forced to loot.
  2. If no one has a raid need for the item, but it could have a personal purpose (druid feral gear, paladin pvp weapons, priest shadow gear.. etc), the item goes back to the guild for distribution based on DKP at half its item price. The upgrade rule never applies to these items.
  3. If the item is a set piece, that is an upgrade to no one, but for whatever reason has sentimental value to a player, they can loot that item at no cost.
  4. The item is unclaimed and is turned into precious purple Nexus Crystals.

You may worry that bad luck with lots of disenchanted or discounted items will hurt the amount of points you personally recieve, but that is taken care of by the following rule:

The total point value of each item will be distributed to the guild regardless of how many points it was looted for or its final fate as a crystal. This is handled by having a NULL player on the DKP roster that soaks up the differences. This player's points are then redistributed over the guild at a weekly interval.

Example
Veliya pays 100 points for an item priced at 250. 250/40=6.25 points will be distributed to the raid.
NULL will be charged 150 points to make up for the points that weren't spent but were distributed to the raid. At the end of the week, with 50 people in the guild, 150/50=3 points are deducted from everyone in the guild and NULL's points are set to 0.

The people who were there for the raid only gain 3.25 points, but they still end up 6.25 points ahead of the people who did not attend. A very important thing to remember, is that your actual point total does not determine your loot priority, but your DKP standing does. As such, a reletive shift such as this impacts your looting power just as much as if only points were added, and losing points in this way makes you no less able to loot than it would if the -3 to all didn't happen.

Resist Gear
Some people have to have resist gear to fulfill their raid roles, and some people don't. Charging people for gear that is completely extraneous for their typical raid role would put some players and classes at a much lower standing than others because they looted gear the raid as a whole required them to have. Also, people allowing resist gear to rot to protect their points would be anti-progressional and just irresponsible. As such, resist gear with no redeeming raid purpose otherwise will be handled in the following manner:

Resist gear will be distributed based on officer discretion to the players and classes we need it on the most to progress. The recipients will not have to pay for these items. These items will still be pointed, and points will be rewarded to the raid by the same means as discounted or disenchanted items.
